I've admired Kay's graphite work for some time, so when the time was right I made contact to ask about the process and discuss what I had in mind for a very special portrait of my dog in a lifetime. Kay was so easy to work with and we batted ideas and photos back and worth for a number of weeks, maybe even months. With literally thousands of photos to go through to find the very essence of what I wanted Kay to capture was probably the hardest part. We settled on three images with a few others as potential options, after seeking permission from two of the photographers we were off. The composition of the piece came a close second because again it was trying to capture the moment, the dog behind the image but after a few trials we agreed on what the final composition would be. Kay kept me involved throughout the process although she probably wished she hadn't because I was like an expectant father and more of a pain in the ****! Losing my boy part way through the process I had so much emotion tied up in this piece I wholeheartedly put my faith in Kay and she absolutely smashed it out the part. I commissioned a portrait of our beloved dog who sadly passed away a few months before Christmas. Kay was fantastic to work with and kept me updated all the way. The finished portrait is beautiful and perfectly captures the personality and likeness of Alfie. It was a gift for my husband for Christmas - he was absolutely delighted and Alfie's portrait now hangs proudly in our home. I would highly recommend Kay.

Let's start at the end - the finished portrait was of superb quality. It perfectly captured my two boys; not just their likeness, but also their personality. Now back to the beginning. Kay will advise you on how to take the best photos, and her website gives detailed descriptions of the different types of paintings she does - watercolour, graphite, acrylic and pastel. If you have a particular background or pose in mind, this can be incorporated into the portrait. Once the work is started, you are kept up to date on its progress and you get to see the finished product before it's dispatched, to make sure it meets with your approval. Finally, when the portrait is sent, it is securely packaged to completely protect the painting during transit. In summary, I highly recommend Kay Prior and Pettpaintings.

Kay's work is outstanding, I am delighted with the painting which is such a perfect likeness of my cocker spaniel "Barkley". She made the whole process from inception, selection of source photos, development of ideas, through the painting process and final edits so much fun and I was engaged all the way through. I had a painting of my 2 Dachsunds done. Painting was done from 2 individual photos. Kay knew exactly which photos to use from the choice sent. They were both painted absolutely spot on and to a superb standard. Kay is a lovely person and an absolute professional expert at what she does. Highly recommend :-) :-).

Kay is obviously a very talented artist in all mediums. Her oil painting of my son's two dogs are so real. She has been able to capture their two very different characters beautifully. I commissioned Kay to paint this portrait for my son's 50 th. Birthday and he was delighted with the outcome.

This is the second painting /pastel that I have had from Kay Prior. My son asked me to arrange this as a surprise present for his girlfriend for Christmas. She was absolutely over the moon and Kay captured the character of Buffy. We were all so pleased. I have also purchased a miniture landscape duo which is beautiful too.

I just found Pettpaintings on-line and saw that Kay was local. Can not fault the service or product and several friends have asked for details with a view to getting a portrait of their own dog. Need I say more :- They have seen how good the likeness is of our Lola. Regular phone calls and e-mail photos of the picture as she went along and Kay was more than happy to change the background to suit my taste when asked.
